Pizza Capers
As far as pizza in Queensland was concerned, it always used to be about the price – I remember way back in the late 90′s we saw pizza’s from as low as $3.95 each (pickup)… and for a kid in high school, that was a bargain – especially when our high school English teacher used to organise Friday afternoon pizza sessions instead of doing actual work
Today, however, things have changed a little. I’ve grown older, and pizza’s are no longer as cheap as they used to be – but thanks to some newcomers, like Pizza Capers, the state of the Queensland Pizza Nation appears to be shifting focus – from price, to quality. And that’s a good thing.
For years there, we were stuck with the options of just the major three chains – Domino’s, Pizza Hut and Eagle Boys… and with the price war going on, it was the consumer who got the sharp end of the stick – crappy toppings (and a severe lack of toppings all together), no choice, no variety and a big push for up-sells and add-ons like drinks, desserts and garlic breads in an effort to turn a profit.
Pizza Capers, however, is a fresh change – a creative menu, great branding, a loyalty system that actually benefits the consumer and best of all – great tasting pizza’s. Between our little group, we’ve probably almost tried every single bread, pizza and pasta on the menu – and as far as I’m aware, everyone’s always been pleased – but personally, I would absolutely recommend Pizza Capers as your next choice for takeaway or delivered pizza. Great variety, plenty of discount offers on their mailbox-delivered menu’s / brochures, and best of all, pizza’s with real taste, and a good amount of toppings.
It seems that others in the market are listening, too – with Domino’s evolving their menu’s and marketing with more of a focus on quality ingredients – cleverly structuring their offerings so that they still appeal to the “cheap and cheerful” consumer, as well as the person wanting something of higher quality (at a higher price).
As the more expensive option out there, I figure it’s up to you guys to see if Pizza Capers tastes better and provides better value for money – but personally, I reckon they’re on to a winning formula.
If I had to offer my $0.02 on the brand, I’d say well done on the clever marketing & great discount offers – every pizza box has a token and we rarely have to pay for add-on breads, thanks to the use of discount coupons and tokens that we collect.
As a rapidly growing brand, however, it’s important to take baby steps. With stores popping up everywhere & a menu that’s growing and growing (risotto’s are a new edition, for example), it’s prudent to proceed with caution. Growing too quickly can be a dangerous thing, especially if the procedures and systems running in the background aren’t ready to cope with such rapid growth. They still, for example, don’t have a website (at the time of writing) – and I believe they’ve been around for over a year now. I guess that’s one area where the technology and back-end systems are playing catch-up.
But all in all – a great brand, with great food. Pizza Capers comes highly recommended from me, and be sure to check your 2009-2010 Entertainment Book for a discount coupon.

I have got to agree with everything! The Kelvin Grove Pizza Capers is fantastic, easy ordering, friendly service, not to mention the quality pizza. When it comes to pizza, I look no further. Also, the tokens on every box just complete the deal, I finally saved up 15

i have to dissagree with all the above mentioned,
pizza capers stinks!
really with to much topping falling of a sloppy and plain base, it is astounding that there can be so much topping with an extreme lack of flavour, me an my girlfreind just brought two large pizzas for 40 dollars, expensive and overpriced i will never be eating pizza capers again, and in looking to pizza capers originally to avoid such chains as dominoes, in retrospect i would have prefered the latter
sorry pizza capers
it just really wasnt that good
