Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel water bottle
As a person that consumes a lot of liquids namely water and coffee I like to make sure they are available all the time, while there is no shortage of coffee shops (but certainly a shortage people who can make a good coffee) there is however a dwindling amount of water drinking fountains and coolers around the place. While tap water will suffice to keep one hydrated in the short term, the increasing amounts of junk in the tap water make it less and less palatable, and don’t even get me started on shop brought bottled water. I tried using high level polycarb water bottle (the ones that don’t leech chemicals from the plastic into the water) with my own filtered water a few times but I found that they where too easily breakable and paying $9 every few weeks for a new bottle wasn’t economically viable.

One day my life was changed when a friend introduced me to a 1.182 Litre S/Steel water bottle by the brand of Klean Kanteen he had purchased for me at a health food store. I guess there isn’t really anything too fancy about the bottle, but the advantages of S/Steel over normal plastics and polycarb outweigh the priceyness of the Kanteen. The overall quality of the plastic pop-top is fantastic from the little rubber valve that lets air in while you are sucking water out to the attached cover that pulls the “pop” part up making the bottle ready to drink from even without having to touch the mouth piece with your hands (which I think is fantastic with all the dirty surfaces you touch during the day.)
The problem I had with the polycarb bottles was that the plastic was too rigid and if dropped, the bottles would crack and leak making me loose precious water. However because the Stainless Steel is many more times stronger than the polycarb, if the bottle is dropped, it is more likely to damage the surface it’s dropped on than the bottle itself although the bottle will tend to dent if dropped on a hard surface like cement.
If you’re like me and drink 3 litres of water a day and don’t want to spend an exorbitant amount of money on bottled water this is a great way to hold your fluids.
Because fresh and clean water is important to me I give the Klean Kanteen water bottle 10 out of 10

I would have to admit that this is one tough bottle! I’ve personally seen one accidentally dropped 2 to 3 times (on a concrete floor) in the space of 30 minutes. A few dents here and there, but no leaks and no damage to the plastic sipper-cap on top. Great quality and well worth the asking price. Next time I find one in stores, I’m buying one
You can buy them at this store called “Biome” in the Brisbane city. It is on Adelaide Street, not far from Anzac Square but on the Angus & Robertson side of the road.
